Ever wonder what happened to famed female aviator Amelia Earhart? You’re not alone. TIGHAR (The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery), the world’s leading aviation archaeological foundation has been working to discover the truth about Earhart and has led nine expeditions to the island of Nikumaroro (formerly Gardner island) where they believe Earhart and Fred Noonan landed and eventually died. In May and June of next year (2010) the TIGHAR team is headed back to Nikumaroro in the hopes of recovering artifacts that can be linked to Amelia Earhart using DNA.
So how can you help solve the mystery? Become a TIGHAR member and make a donation to the organization.
